Dorothy Ridgway Ferrell

Dorothy Ridgway Ferrell, 91, of Sedalia, VA, died on Saturday, March 12, 2016. She was the wife of the late William P. Ferrell.
Dorothy was born on July 14, 1924, in New York City, NY.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary A. Ferrell of Fredericksburg, VA, and Martha F. Davis, and husband, Daniel, of Sedalia, VA; two granddaughters, Melanie Cheripka of Fredericksburg, VA, and Stephanie Davis of Lynchburg; two grandsons, Jeremy Davis of Sedalia, VA and Michael Raphael of Haywood, VA; and nine great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William Powers Ferrell, Jr., and a grandson, William Daniel Davis.
Dorothy proudly served our nation in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher; enjoyed long walks; with a life-long love of reading.
There will be a memorial service celebrating Dorothy’s life at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Sam Capitano officiating. The family will receive friends immediately prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a contribution to the Big Island Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 122, Big Island, VA 24526.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
