Dorothy Williams Jones, 89, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, November 9, 2017. She was the wife of the late John Sheppard Jones.
Dorothy was born in Lynchburg on February 7, 1928, to the late Fitzhugh Lee Williams and the late Mae Trent Williams.
Dorothy is survived by her sons John S. Jones, Jr. and his wife, Cathy, and Donald L. Jones and his wife, Mary, both of Lynchburg; her grandchildren: Jason Jones and his wife, Heather, of Manassas Park, Va., Adam Jones and his wife Jessica of Forest, Amanda Smith and her husband, Tony, of Lynchburg; and her great-grandchildren Tyler, Blake, Lauren, Jackson, Sheppard, and Mackinley. She is also survived by a sister, Fern Harvey of Forest; and a brother, Jack Williams of Richmond, Va.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sharon Ober.
Dorothy enjoyed meeting her friends for lunch at Charley’s. She also loved spending time with her family at Sandbridge Beach.
A graveside service will be held at Fort Hill Memorial Park on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bart W. Edwards officiating.
