Douglas “Wayne” Van Allen

Blairs, VA. \"" Douglas \"Wayne\" Van Allen, age 54, of 265 Georges Lane, #14, Blairs, Virginia, died November 21, 2010 at Danville Regional Medical Center.  Wayne was born on September 28, 1956, in Danville, Virginia, the son of Frances L. Van Allen and the late Robert F. Van Allen, Sr.

Wayne graduated from Danville Community College and soon thereafter moved to Lynchburg where he made his home for the next 30 years.  He was last employed at Mayes Engineering before retiring on disability.

Wayne is also survived by his sister, Lacy V. Dykes, of Dry Fork, VA; a brother, Robert F. Van Allen, Jr. of Blairs, Virginia; a niece, Christie B. Reed, and two nephews, Adam P. Van Allen and Christopher J. Van Allen.

Wayne was a free spirit and lived his life to the fullest.  His friends affectionately referred to him as \"Hippie.\"  He had a great love for nature and adored all of his pets.

The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, 300 Dry Fork Road.

Donations may be sent to your local area Humane Society.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
