Dr. Cody Brannon Addison, 76, of Rustburg, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018.
He attended school in Sparta, Ohio. In his senior year he moved to Gastonia, N. C. and graduated from Ashley High School. He did undergraduate work at N.C. State University and then graduated from University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine. For many years he was veterinarian in Lynchburg and the owner of the Addison Animal Hospital. He retired in 2001. He and his wife had many beloved animals that they enjoyed spending time with.
He enjoyed golf, his grandson, and renovating his home. He loved spending time with his family at their beach home in Sunset Beach, N.C.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mimi Addison; a daughter, Virginia Leigh Addison; a son, Brannon Hoffman; a grandson, Branson Patrick Addison; a sister, Roberta “Bobbi” Hurst and her husband, Randy; and a nephew, Kenny Kincaid.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Addison; his mother, Gerthel Addison Linkous; his step-father, Warren Linkous; and his daughter, Stacy Ann Addison.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, at 4 p.m. with Loyd Woodford, William “Bill” Price, and Samuel Parsons officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to any animal shelter or humane society in our area.
