Dr. Marvin Porter Meadors Jr. died on August 7, 2012 in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Born in Memphis, TN on August 18, 1933, Marvin Porter Meadors Jr. was the only child of Marvin and Rozelle Meadors. He grew up in the Mississippi Delta living in Greenville, MS. He attended the McCallie School from the ninth grade until graduation in 1951. He attended Washington and Lee University from 1951 to 1955, graduating with honors. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity. He attended Tulane University Medical School from 1955 to 1959, graduating as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honorary medical society. After serving in the United States Navy as a general medical officer and a brief tour as a general practitioner, he trained in pathology and hematopathology at Baptist Memorial Hospital and St. Judes Children\"™s Research Hospital. He had a distinguished career as a staff pathologist at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, TN; Methodist Evangelical Hospital, Louisville, KY; and Mississippi Baptist Hospital, Jackson, MS. He was a lifelong faithful member of the Baptist Church.

The highlight of his life occurred on August 24, 1954 when he married his childhood sweetheart, Carol Causey. They had been happily married for fifty seven years at the time of her death on October 1, 2011.

Dr. Meadors is survived by his six children and fifteen grandchildren: Lisa Carol Cresson and husband and very special friend David Cresson of Lynchburg , VA; Marvin Porter Meadors III and wife Jane Clay Meadors of Nashville, TN; son John Thomas Meadors and wife Susan Meadors of Clinton, MS; son William Stanley Meadors and wife Rebecca Meadors of Brandon, MS; son Edward Paul Meadors and wife Kathy Meadors of Upland, IN; son David Causey Meadors and wife Carrie Meadors of Charlottesville, VA; grandchildren Carol Cresson of Fredericksburg, VA; William Cresson of Lynchburg, VA; Porter and wife Graham Meadors of Nashville, TN; Park Meadors and Lucy Meadors of Nashville, TN; Samuel Meadors, Joseph Meadors, and Mary Louise Meadors of Clinton, MS; Edward Meadors, Davis Meadors, and Mary Katherine Meadors of Upland, IN; and Beth Anne Meadors, Emma Meadors, Causey Meadors, and Paul Thomas Meadors of Charlottesville, VA.

A private worship and memorial service will take place in Greenville Mississippi at the Greenville City Cemetery at 3pm on Saturday August 11th. The family requests that memorials be made to the charity of their choice.
