Duval Davis, Jr.

Duval Edward Davis, Jr. of Madison Heights, VA departed this life on Friday, November 10, 2023 in Richmond, VA after a brief illness. He was born September 2, 1943 in Campbell County, VA to the late Duval Edward Davis Sr. and Beadie Freeman Davis. He was preceded in death by two sisters Frances D. Cook and Estelle D. Anderson.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA.

After completing his secondary education, he served in the U.S. Navy. Upon completing his tour of duty, he returned home where he met and married the love of his life, Christine Mosby Davis for 54 years. To this union, God blessed them with two daughters, Katrina Davis Jones (Jamie) and Kimberly Davis Evans (Warren), both of Richmond, VA. He leaves to mourn one beloved sister, Ella D. Booker of Lynchburg, VA.

He also leaves to mourn four sisters-in-law, Ruby M. Higginbotham (Lawrence), of Amherst, VA, Mary M. Chambers (Robert) and Betty D. Mosby of Madison Heights, VA, and Attorney Phyllis M. Mosby of Danville, VA. He is survived by four beloved grandsons, Juan, Javier, Kaleb, and Kenai of Richmond, VA, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Duval worked as a tool and die maker and retired from Babcock and Wilcox after 35 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed taking care of his home and maintaining a beautiful lawn and garden. He loved traveling across the country with his family, being on the beach, and above all, spending quality time with his girls, grandsons, sons-in-law and spoiling his precious wife Christine. Christine and Duval did everything together. They were a loving couple. As they grew old together, they maintained their love for each other and took care of each other “till death do us part.” 

A celebration of Duval's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel located at 118 Commonwealth Drive Madison Heights, Virginia 24572.
