Dwight S. Thomas

Dwight Sherwood Thomas, 65, of Lynchburg, Virginia, departed this life Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born February 14, 1953, to the late Edward L. Thomas and Geraldine Mays Thomas. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Viola (Weeda) Barbour Thomas. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Dwight also leaves to cherish his memories one brother Herman Thomas (Ann) and one sister, Claudette Baldwin (Brett); two godsons, Aronde and Devonte West; three goddaughters, Philicia and Dionna Moore and Aleriah Bradley; his father and mother-in-law, Melvin and Evelyn Barbour; a devoted uncle and aunt, Carol and Julia Ann Sandidge and aunt Mary Lewis; one brother-in-law, Gregory L. Barbour; three sisters-in-law, Celeste Paige, Jackie Paige and Marva Martin; a very special and devoted niece Melva Barbour; other devoted friends, Rosa Robinson, Mildred Tucker, Clarence and Hazel West, Thomas Murphy, Evangelist Dorothy Moore, Kenneth Joyner, Faye Giles, Florence Callahan, the Paige and West families, Pastor’s Victor and Shirley Paige and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A celebration of Dwight’s life will be held Sunday, May 13, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg.
