Earl Lee Baird

Earl Lee Baird, 88, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Patricia Bryarly Baird.

 Born in Roanoke, on December 8, 1924, he was a son of the late Herbert Lee Baird and Snow Belle Mattox Baird. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran aboard the USS Hornet. While in the Navy, Earl earned nine battle stars and three medals in the South Pacific. He retired as Regional Manager for Hertz Rental, and was a member of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church.

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Eugene M. Baird; Nephew, Marshall Bryarly; Nieces, Laura Thomas and her husband, Bob, and Faye Hedrick; Great nephew, Charles Davis and his wife, Missy; one great-great-nephew, Tucker Davis; and one great-great-niece, Riley Davis.

 Inurnment will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in Grace Memorial Episcopal Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Cathraine Montgomery.

 In lieu of flowers, please send any memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

 The family would like to thank Generation Solutions and Centra Hospice for the extraordinary care given to Earl during his illness.
