Eddie Lee Rice (Pete), 90, of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, August 02, 2010. He was the husband of Ester Wilson Rice for 59 years.
Eddie was born May 02, 1920 in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Daniel Frank Rice and Lillian Mae Rice Dudley, and was also preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Ed Rice.
Eddie attended Living Word Baptist Church Deaf Ministries. He was employed by Progress Printing, Inc. for 37 years. He was a proud member of the Progress Team and considered all as family. He was a devoted husband, father and papa. He was known for his uplifting humor and personality and found a friend in everyone. Eddie enjoyed fishing, camping and his favorite teams, UVA and Redskins
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Evan Joan Bates of Lynchburg and Lola Rice Scruggs of Evington, nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; also one sister, Marie Mason, and one brother, Gerald Dudley and wife Rachel of Evington.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Thursday, August 05, 2010 in the chapel at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg by Rev. John Wyble. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 PM at Tharp Funeral Home, and all other times at the residence.
