Edith Alberta Newman, 90, of Evington, died Monday, October 21, 2013 at her residence. For 54 years, she was the wife of William Henry Newman.
Born October 7, 1923 in Upper Marlboro, MD, Edith was the daughter of the late Bernard Andrew Smith and Myrtle Watson Smith.
In addition to her husband, Edith is survived by her sister, Evelyn Josephine Floyd.
Alberta loved to watch westerns on television and she loved to listen to county music.
A graveside service will he held Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in Culpeper National Cemetery. Alberta\"™s lifelong friend, Bernice Hall will speak.
The family will receive friends today, October 22, 2013 from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
