Edith \"Edie\" Crie, 81, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at the Summit Health and Rehab Unit.
Edie was born August 7, 1928, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Laverne Auld. Edie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leslie \"Les\" Dake Crie, and her sister, Beverly Howe Scott.
Survivors include brothers Jim Auld and wife, Lorna, of Boise Idaho; John Auld of Boulder, Colorado; one sister, Anne Dickey, of Tennessee; three children Dr. J. Stanley Crie and his wife, Candace, of Marysville, Washington; Virginia \"Jinx\" Weary and her husband, Paul, of Roanoke, Virginia; and Robert W. Crie and his wife, Mollie, of Forest, Virginia; six grandchildren Devon C. Gibbs and her husband, Eric; Ryan C. Crie and his wife, Sandra; Mark D. Weary; Kristen W. Christman and her husband, Mat; Greylyn L. Crie; Bobbi Anna Crie; three great-grandchildren Conner Gibbs; Dake Gibbs; Taryn L. Crie: and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Edie was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church, a past-president of the Lynchburg General Hospital Auxiliary, and worked for the Mental Health Association. She was an avid author and enjoyed playing Bridge. She loved woodworking and handcrafts and delighted in displaying and sharing her creations with others. Edie had a life-long love of the water and maintained a vacation home at Smith Mountain Lake.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 5:30 at Timberlake United Methodist Church, 21649 Timberlake Road, with a reception immediately following in the fellowship hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and the Parkinson\"™s Foundation.
