Edith Darlene Eskridge Mann

Mathew 5:4- Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Edith Darlene Mann, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all of those that were blessed to know her.

She began her life in Saltville, Virginia, on November 20, 1937, the youngest child of Jim & Charlotte Eskridge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 18 siblings and is survived by her only sister, Ella Mae Hankins and her family of Lynchburg. In addition, she was preceded in death by her infant son, F.T. “Butch” Banton III and her husbands, Walter Noel and Ray Mann who passed away on March 5, 2019.

She was a loving mother to her only daughter, Susie Drinkard and her husband, Tim, whom she loved like a son, Robert Noel was her baby no matter how old he was, she adored her grandchildren; Jeremy Winston (Sarah), Bree Noel (Jerome) and Brandon Noel (Emma) but she considered one of life’s greatest blessings to be her great-grandchildren; Jacob and Ady Winston, Rowan Horsley, Ava Noel and was eagerly waiting to meet Amelia Noel in December 2019.

She is survived by her two step-grandchildren and their families, Tim Jr. & Michael Drinkard as well as Ray’s daughters and families. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews. Cathy Mayberry and Judy Hankins were also very special to her.

She was a long-time employee of HK Porter/Delta Star and retired from Ericson/GE. Her all-time favorite job was sending gifts and messages on Facebook to all her favorite friends. She was the “Queen” of her Facebook.

Edith loved the Lord and was a member of Tree of Life Ministries.

The family would like to thank the amazing Palliative team, 4th floor staff & nurses (especially Nina) for their care and compassion during this most difficult time. Roblyn, her home health nurse was wonderful and she became like family. Mama had great physicians; Dr. Kalifian and Dr. Morford, and Dr. Plankeel who cared for her since 2003 when she developed COPD.

The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Tree of Life Ministries, Lynchburg. A celebration of Edith’s life will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Tree of Life Ministries, Lynchburg with the Pastor Mike Dodson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Tree of Life Ministries.
