Edith Hull Dalton

Edith Hull Dalton, of Bedford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 26, 2015 at the age of 86.
Edith was born and raised in Bedford, Virginia in 1929. A daughter of the late Kitty Ola Moran Hull and Joseph McMahon Hull. Edith was a member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. One of Edith’s greatest gifts to the world was her gracious, kind, and selfless dedication to caring for all those that she loved.
Edith was the beloved wife of Donald W. Dalton for 53 years. She was a loving mother to: John Dalton of Bedford, VA; Joy Adams and her husband Jamie Adams of Goode, VA; and Judy Goad and her husband James Goad of Lowry, VA. Edith was a proud grandma to: Tabitha Coates and her husband Coey Jenkins of Lexington, VA; Ethan Goad of Lowry, VA; Brooke Adams of Goode, VA; and Josh Adams of Goode, VA. She is further survived by the following beloved family members: one sister, Virginia H. Jakaitis of Forest; one brother, W. Fred Hull and his wife, Pat of Bedford; two nephews, Joseph Ford Lacy of Bedford and Michael Lacey of Bedford; Debbie Mays and her husband Larry Mays of Lancaster, PA; Amy Bethard of Los Angeles, CA; and Jonathan Bethard of Boston, MA.
Edith was preceded in death by: two sisters, Ella Hull Reynolds and Margaret Hull Lacy; and one brother, Otho E. Hull.
A celebration of Edith’s life will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home Bedford with Austin Hull and Tabitha Coates officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s: 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN, 38105 or the Bedford YMCA: 1111 Turnpike Rd, Bedford, VA 24523.
