Edith J. Dooley

Edith Jane Dooley, 83 of Salem, VA died on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Salem Health and Rehab. She has lived there since 2015 and previously lived in Roanoke City and Vinton. She was born in Bedford, VA she lived on the family farm that supplied tomatoes to the cannery in Thaxton, VA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Ollie Dooley; two sisters, Ella Burnett, and Molly Beard and her long-time boyfriend Pete Chewning. She is survived by her son Kevin Dooley, grandchildren, three sisters, Etta Burnett, Edna Burnett, and Patsy Carter: numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Also surviving are her caregivers, Michael, and Susan Burnett. A graveside service and celebration of Edith’s life will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Greenwood cemetery in Bedford.
