Edith Louise Joseph died on Wednesday October 24, 2014. She was born October 28, 1922 daughter of Augusta and Lewis Cozza and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She attended Marquette University graduating with a degree in Speech and English. There she met and married Robert Joseph, her husband of 62 years. During the war years, she taught English and Speech in northern Wisconsin. She took a hiatus to raise her family, returning later to teach high school in Erie, Pennsylvania. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Lynchburg to be near their children. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, role model and teacher and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by a daughter, Amy Jones, PH.D and her husband Keith, a son, Charles Joseph, MD and his wife Cathie, three grandchildren, Stephen Joseph, Amanda Joseph, Emily Joseph Stamatiou and her husband Angelos, and a great-grandson, Nikos.

The family wishes to thank the very special nursing staff of the third floor at Guggenheimer Nursing Home for the excellent and loving care she received during her stay there.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Rush Homes, a provider of housing for adults with disabilities. Their address is 1022 Commerce Street, Suite 3A, PO Box 879, Lynchburg, VA 24505.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday October 29, 2014 at 7:00 pm with Chaplain Wayne Lanham officiating, followed by visitation with her family at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
