Edith Louise Mcneely Martin

Edith Louise McNeely Martin, 93, of Holcomb Rock, VA, passed peacefully, on Sunday August 22, 2010.  She was the wife of the late William Edward Martin.

Edith was born July 14, 1917 in Naola, Amherst County, a daughter of the late Bernard McNeely and Mary Elizabeth  McNeely.

Edith is survived by her daughter; Bonnie Martin, and her son; Randy Martin and his wife, Angie, a granddaughter, Tracy Martin all of Holcomb Rock, seven; sisters; Nellie Jennings, of Bedford, Lois Reynolds, of Big Island, Norma Williams and her husband, Robert, of Big Island, Joan Arthur, of Lynchburg, Kathleen Smith and her husband, Howard, of Lynchburg, Barbara Rader and her husband, James, of Lynchburg, and Vivian Snead, of Chesterfield, VA, a brother; Charles L. (Sonny) McNeely and his wife, Grace, of Coleman Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, and her parents, Edith was preceded in death by four sisters; Eunice Binion, Lena Spence, Thelma Martin, and Helen Douglas, two brothers; Harold McNeely, and Julian McNeely

Edith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a member of Boonsboro United Methodist Church for 70 years, where she taught Sunday School for nearly 50 years. She was a great cook and loved the beach. She will be remembered as a wonderful caring and giving person.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Lane Spigener officiating.  Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
