Edith Lucille Mannon, 81, of Gladys, VA. passed away Monday, March 20, 2017. She was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Georgia Massengill Smith. Surviving are her husband, Lewis Lee Mannon; sons, William “Bill” Oakley and his wife Lynn, John Mannon, Michael Oakley and his wife Kathy; and five grandchildren: William, Scarlett, Brandon, Helen, and Sara. Also, she is survived by her brother Doug Smith; and sisters Betty Cheshire, Sue Carter, Irene Smith-Grubb, and Jimmy Lawrence.
Edith was a devoted mother whose greatest passion in life was raising her three children and watching her five grandchildren blossom. Her warm and caring presence will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home’s Lynchburg Chapel at 1 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
