Edith Meade Elliott-Borsom, age 79, of Bedford, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Charles H. Borsom.
Edith was also preceeded in death by her parents, Harry Taylor Elliott and Frances Clyde Marshall Elliott; sister, Frances Clyde Elliott Falls; brother-in-law, Edward Lewis Falls.
She is survived by a niece, Marsha Falls Murphy (Scott); nephews, Harry Lewis Falls (Dawna) and John Falls (Kim); great-nephews, Johnathan Lewis Falls, Scott Austin Murphy, Jackson Payne Murphy, and Jack Lucas Falls; great-nieces, Beth Falls Stanaland (Blake), Emily Marie Falls, Courtney Elizabeth Falls; great-great-niece Raylyn Stanaland; a special friend, Carl H. Stinnett.
Edith graduated from New London Academy in 1958. She earned a B.S. from Radford University in 1962 and an M.S. from Madison College in 1968. Edith had a passion for education and worked as an assistant professor at Fairfax Community College, along with many other schools. Edith and Charles loved to travel the world. Together, they explored Japan, China, Vietnam, Africa, South America, the U.K., and many other countries. She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Elks Lodge – Stony Creek Rebecca Lodge. Edith was the past regent for the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Peaks of Otter Chapter. She was also an NLA Alumni. Edith was a giving and caring woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 with Rev. Dr. Tom Bryant officiating.
Interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Oakland United Methodist Church.
