Edward Colhoun Suhling

Edward Colhoun Suhling died November 28th after a long and happy life. Born June 25, 1924, he was the son of William Gerhard Suhling Jr. and Tina Colhoun Suhling. He was preceded in death by both parents and an older brother William Gerhard Suhling III. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Margieanne Gregory Suhling, a sister, Eleanor Suhling Dillard and five of her children, a daughter Leigh Suhling Barth and her husband Brad and their two children, a daughter Anne Suhling Simms and her husband David and their three children, a daughter Meg Suhling McCann and her husband Tom and their three children, a son William Gerhard Suhling II and his wife Stephanie and their four children, and 11 great grandchildren.

Ed was educated at the Episcopal High School, University of Virginia, Duke, and Purdue University from which he was a Tau Beta Pi graduate. He served in the U.S.M.C. during WW II.  For many years he ran his own small business, Suh Dist. Co and was active in local affairs. He served as director of Central Fidelity Bank, president of the Lynchburg Kiwanis Club, scout master of troop 11, and senior warden of St John\"™s church. He loved the games of bridge and tennis and was an avid bird hunter and fisherman.  He loved dogs, particularly the setters he raised from pups and trained.  He also enjoyed playing the piano.

On Tuesday, November 30, there will be a graveside service at Spring Hill Cemetery at 1:00. A memorial service will follow at Westminster-Canterbury at 2:00 p.m., in The Commons. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the memorial service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Canterbury Employee Scholarship Fund.
