Edward was born Thursday, June 14, 1928 in Monroe VA, a son of the late Lonnie and Ethel Floyd. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway where he worked for 42 years. He was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church, 1727 Moose Lodge, American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his sons, Kenneth Darrell Floyd of Goode, Philip Leland Floyd of Fincastle, Richard Lee Floyd of Lynchburg; his daughter, Patricia Neal Floyd of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and his sister, Barbara F. Ross, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Floyd, and a brother, Lonnie Floyd, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Edward's life will be conducted at Fort Hill Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Danny Smith officiating.
