Edward Harrison Hatter

Edward \"Ed\" Harrison Hatter, 81, of Bedford, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Carriage Hill Nursing Home. Born in Bedford Co. on June 16, 1930 a son of the late Andrew Harrison Hatter and Mary Frances Taylor Hatter. In addition to her parents Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Wayne Hatter; two sisters, Irene Hatter Orange and Hazel Hatter Parker.

Ed was a member of Cool Spring Presbyterian Church. He worked and retired from Rubatex in Bedford with 32 years of service. He loved old cars, trucks and John Deere Tractors. He also loved bluegrass and old country music. Ed never met a stranger. He loved playing his guitars and his banjo. He was loved by many and will be missed even more.

Ed is survived by a sister-in-law, Martha J. Hatter of Goode; one brother, Andrew Jackson \"Jackie\" Hatter of Bedford, two sisters, Inez Hatter Karnes of Bedford and Barbara \"Bobbie\" Hatter Waldron and her husband Jimmy Lee Waldron of Union; aslo numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Medi Home Hospice, 5369 Peters Creek Road NW, Roanoke, VA 24019, or Cool Spring Presbyterian Church, 692 Cool Springs Road, Thaxton, VA 24174.

A celebration of Ed\"™s life will be conducted at 2pm on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Geoff Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in Peaks View Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
