Edward Henry Jones, Jr.

Edward Henry Jones, Jr. son of the late Edward Henry Jones, Sr. and Susie Crews Jones was born October 25, 1937, in Lynchburg, VA.
On Monday January 17, 2022, at 11:08 a.m. God sent his angels into Ed’s room at 1287 Walnut Hollow Road and whispered Ed come with me your time here is over no more pain or suffering. Ed departed this life to live with his heavenly father. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Davis Jones.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Watson Jones and their son, Kerry Q. Jones, Sr.; two grandchildren, Kerry Q. Jones, Jr. and Katelyn E. Jones; one great-granddaughter, Braydee A. Jones; brothers, Carl A. Jones of Lynchburg; Douglas W. Jones (Gale) of Fredericksburg; sisters-in-law Faye Jones and Beverly Jones and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ed was a dedicated and faithful member of Wingfield Baptist Church where he served as the chairman of the Trustee Board for many years until his health failed. He attended Dunbar High School and graduated in 1956. He served on the All Dunbar Reunion Committee. Edward joined the United States Navy and later worked at General Electric and Ericson Companies for 38 years. He loved fishing, sports, photography, and catering.
The family would like to extend our special thanks for the care that was given to our loved one displayed by the doctors, nurses, dialysis staff with Centra Health, Heartland Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive Lynchburg, VA 24502 with the Rev. Dr. Carl B. Hutcherson, Jr. officiating. Those attending the service please wear a mask.
