Edward P. Salyer
Edward P. Salyer, 63, of Rogersville, TN formally of Montvale, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012. Born in Castlewood, VA on March 19, 1948, a son of the late Edward \"Pete\"™ Salyer and Betty Salyer. In addition to his parents Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Salyer.
Ed was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed bird watching, the outdoors and all animals. He was great story teller and was loved by all that knew him. He was a lifetime member of Ft. Gibson Methodist Church in Castlewood, VA. He drove a truck for William Edward Trucking for many years after his retirement from Ingersoll Rand in Roanoke, VA.
He is survived by two children, Mike Salyer and his wife, Kelly of Shawesville, VA and Denise Salyer Gilbert and her husband, Jason of Rogersville, TN; one granddaughter, Katie Denise Salyer; two step grandchildren, Nicholas and Joshua Fitzgerald; one sister, Barbara Salyer; a half-sister, Delores Sutton; and his extended family in Glasgow, VA, the Markham\"™s.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2316 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Roanoke, VA. The Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, (540)-586-3443.
