Edward Robert Langan

Edward Robert “Peanut” Langan Jr., 56, went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2022. Upon his arrival into God’s Kingdom, he was welcomed in Heaven by his mother, EdnaMay; brothers, John and Steven; and nephew, little John. Eddie was also greeted by other friends and family members including his idol, Elvis Presley.
He is survived by Debbie, his wife of 15 years; father, Ed Sr.; brother, Jason (Jay) and his wife Angelique; sons Austin and Sean; and the family dog, Chewie.
Eddie was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and the family relocated to Staten Island, N.Y. He was a graduate of Tottenville High School (83’) and enlisted into the Marine Corps in November the same year. In 1987, after honorably serving our nation, he began an extensive career in private and corporate security. This journey led him to migrate from New York City to Virginia, residing in Lynchburg. He attended Central Virginia Community College and attained an A.A.S. in Administration of Justice. His calling to serve and protect others continued into advanced training in the protective services field. In doing so, he attained supervisorial and managerial positions in retail security. While a security director and administrator, his basic philosophy was, “If you honorably severed in the military, you always had a job”. Nothing gave Eddie more enjoyment except, knowing that former staff members had succeeded in their future careers, especially those who became professional law enforcement officers. In 2006, Eddie made the career jump from corporate security to law enforcement becoming a correctional officer. He led by example and once again soared to the highest professional levels in his field.
Eddie made true sacrifices for his family, placing his life on hold caring for his elderly parents until his dying day. He was extremely generous with his time, family and fortune. He showed true unconditional love for animals, especially those of friends and family. Eddie loved cats and dogs as they were his children. We shall celebrate love, life and family. “Semper Fi, Marine”.
In lieu of floral arrangements the family asks that donations be made to local animal shelters or the U.S.M.C. Toys for Tots.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 12, 2022, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Family and friends will be received Friday night, February 11, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.
