Edward S. Sanderson, Ii

Edward S. Sanderson, II, 59, of Lynchburg went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 15, 2022. Since January of 2019, he battled cancer. He was the husband of Teresa Layne Sanderson for 36 years.

He was born in Lynchburg on November 3, 1962, a son of Edward S. and Donna Spence Sanderson. A graduate of Jefferson Forest High School, he also attended CVCC. Being a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Edward was a member of North Bedford Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons for many years. Owner of Ed’s Automotive, he was an avid car enthusiast. He was a former coach for Boonsboro Ruritan Youth Association (BRYA), Forest Cavalier Baseball Club, and Central Virginia Baseball. He was also an amateur sports photographer.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy A. Sanderson and his grandparents, Buck and Mary Spence and Martha and Cline Sanderson.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children: Bryan T. Sanderson (Brooke) of Mechanicsville and Erica S. Richard (Jessy) of Forest, grandchildren: Harvey Richard and Daphne Richard, sister-in-law: Karen R. Sanderson of Forest, nieces and nephew, Kaitlin S. Keys (Brandon) of Concord, Christian R. Sanderson (Andrea) of Mechanicsville, and Tatum S. Waldo (Noah) of Lynchburg. Also, great nephews and niece:  Jackson, Joel, and Adelaide Keys.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. at North Bedford Baptist Church on Monday, July 18, 2022, with Pastor Chad Brady officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family offers a heartfelt thank you to all those who cared for him from UVA Medical Center, Centra Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center, and Westminster Canterbury Senior Independence Hospice.
