Edwin “Buddy” Turpin

Edwin \"Buddy\" Pendleton Turpin, 86, of Bedford, died Saturday, March 23, 2013. Born May 9, 1926, in Bedford, he was a son of the late Edwin Caswell Turpin and Sallie Pendleton Turpin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Julia Turpin McLaughlin, and nephew, James Pendleton Brodhead.

Buddy attended Bedford High School and worked with the Kroger Company in Bedford until his retirement. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Bedford.

He is survived by one brother, David H. Turpin, and his wife, Mary, of Pensacola, FL; two nieces, Emily Ray and her husband, Kenneth, of Ft. Walton, FL, Holly Raybon, of Birmingham, AL; two nephews, Edwin Brodhead of Atlanta, GA, and Richard McLaughlin, Jr. of Birmingham, AL; six great nieces and two great nephews; and special, close friends, Robert and Susie Fulton.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. H. O. \"Tom\" Thomas officiating.
