On December 24, 2023, God opened the gates of heaven and welcomed Edwina Mae Thomas Harsley into eternal rest.
Edwina was born on January 13, 1951, to the late Nancy Younger Thomas Robinson and Nathan Thomas. In addition to her mother and father she was preceded in death by her two brothers; Glasgow “Allen” Robinson and William “Blue” Thomas and three sisters; Carolyn Noell, Phyllis Thomas and Lena White.
Edwina was affectionately referred to as Wina and Wina Mae. To those whom she shared a little extra motherly love with, she was referred to as “Ma Wina”. To know her was to love her. Wina had a love for creating floral arrangements and decorating her home for the holidays throughout the year. Her infectious smile will forever be remembered.
Edwina leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children; Leonard “Ray” Harsley, Davida Harsley, Monica Harsley, Jabulani “Cotton” Harsley and Milbert “P.J.” Harsley. Ten grandchildren; Demond, Rashaad, Lamaar, Infinity, Montavia, Araybia, Kanavya, Bria, Deziyia and Savion. Extended grandchildren; Angel, Andretti, Keyonna, Ebony and India. Eight great-grandchildren; Demondre, Kylee, Kayloni, Rihanna, Akeem, Kaison, Josiah and Jayden. Three devoted sisters; Sandra Patillo (Raymond), Nancy Wade and Gail Robinson. Her daughters-in-love; Janet Lambert and Sian Fuentes and host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving friends at her residence, 319 Grove Street.
A Celebration of Edwina’s life will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
