Effie Davis Millner
Effie Davis Millner, 69, of Lynchburg, VA, died Friday, April 20, 2012. She was the wife of Cabell Joseph (CJ) Millner for 53 years.
Born Tuesday, December 15, 1942 in Pittsylvania County, VA, Effie was a daughter of the late Arnie L. Davis, Sr. and Beatrice Oakes Davis.
In addition to her parents, Effie was preceded in death by five brothers: Jacob, Isaac, Ulum, Harper, and Arnie, Jr.; and four sisters: Christine D. Moore, Eloise, May and Fay Davis.
In addition to her husband, Effie is survived by three sons: Joseph L. Millner and his wife, Genise, of Lynchburg, Richard Henry Millner and friend, Debbie, of Rustburg, and Jonathan Davis Millner, of Lynchburg; an honorary son, James Roberts of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters: Mildred D. Eanes and her husband, Joe, of Danville, VA, and Carolyn D. Waller and her husband, William, of Nathalie; two brothers: John David Davis and his wife, Patty, of Nathalie, and Charles E. Davis and his wife, Becky, of Panama City, FL; two sisters in-law: Betty Jean Davis, of Nathalie, and Betty Davis Ford, of Halifax, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Effie was a people person, she never met a stranger. Family was very important to her. She loved music of any kind; reading, cooking and working in the gardens in her yard and talking with people. Life did not pass her by.
A celebration of Effie's life will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory Lynchburg with the Rev. Cosette Conaway and Pastor Larry Pauley officiating.
