Elaine Dryer Banker

Elaine Dryer Banker, 82, of Bedford, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was born June 23, 1930 in Canandaigua, NY, a daughter of the late Hazel Berry Dryer and Truman C. Dryer.

Elaine was a parishioner of Unity in the Seven Hills, Lynchburg, VA. She enjoyed helping others, gardening, and reading. Elaine was enthusiastic and found great pleasure in meditation, yoga, and sacred dance at First Christian Church, Lynchburg.

Elaine was a 1948 graduate of the Canandaigua Academy and a 1965 graduate of State University of New York at Genseo. She was a retired speech therapist. Following her retirement she was a home health caregiver.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Fuller Banker; a brother, Clair Dryer; and two sisters, Shirley Dryer and Jean Dryer Carlile. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Banker Floyd and her husband, Lee of Forest; two grandchildren, Tristan Floyd and Madison Floyd both of Forest; two nieces, Dawn Scales and her husband, John of Canandaigua, NY and Lynne O\"™Connor and her late husband, Richard of La Grangeville, NY; three nephews, Scott Carlile and Kent Carlile and his wife, Doreen all of Canandaigua, NY and John \"Jack\" Carlile, Jr. and his wife, Georgene of Silver Spring, MD; eleven great nieces and nephews; and three great great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Elaine\"™s life will be conducted at 11:30 AM, Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Unity in the Seven Hills, Lynchburg with Rev. Marilynn Mattox and Rev. Nancy L. Purcell officiating. An additional celebration will be conducted at 4 PM, Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford.
