Elaine Hogan Allen, 83, of Lynchburg died Tuesday January 27, 2015.
Elaine was born on February 13, 1931 in Lynchburg a daughter of the late Herman L. Hogan, Sr. and the late Vera Carroll Hogan. Elaine worked for G.E. for many years and was a charter member of Forest Road United Methodist Church. She loved painting ceramics, making jewelry, crocheting, and creating crafts for the youth at the church.
Elaine is survived by her two granddaughters: Heather Allen of Columbus, OH and Jessica Branham of Beckley, WV; two great-granddaughters: Brooklyn and Madison Branham, both of Beckley, WV; a sister, Estelle Holloran (Keith) of Lynchburg; a brother, Dan Hogan (Betty) of Forest; a special niece, Debbie Hawkins of Lynchburg; and a niece, Linda Mizell (Bobby) of Pleasant Garden, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Cecil H. Allen, Jr., a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Allen, and two brothers: Herman L. Hogan, Jr. and Carlton Hogan.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday January 29, 2015, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
A Celebration of Elaine’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Pastor Dan Buchanan and Pastor Curtis Walkup officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
