Elder Jeanette Elizabeth Franklin

Elder Jeanette Elizabeth Franklin, 83, of Lynchburg, our dearly beloved departed this life on Saturday, January 11, 2020. She was born on November 7, 1936 to the late Edward Jackson and Ruth Spinner in Lynchburg, Virginia.
She is survived by five children, Floydette W. Walker of Washington, D.C., Ramona J. Franklin, Ruth F. Taylor, Allen S. Franklin and Michael E. Franklin; 13 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Floyd H. Franklin, Jr.
She was a graduate from Dunbar High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. She worked various jobs as a census keeper, collected life insurance payments by going door-to-door and a day care provider at Virginia Baptist where she retired in 2010.
She was very kind, soft spoken and private. Mom was very observant in people and she could call you out in a loving motherly way if you were out of hand. She was an avid reader and enjoyed family outings.
A strong prayer warrior, she studied and was certified as an Elder at Higher Heights Church in Lynchburg, Virginia where she served her remaining time on earth in the outreach ministry, visiting nursing homes and the sick and shut-ins. Grandma Ruth would have been proud of her daughter’s role in the ministry. She will truly be missed by her family because of her listening ear and prayer balm.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, 220 Breezewood Drive, VA 24502. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
