Eldridge Elizabeth Brown slipped into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital, surrounded by her family. Eldridge, lovingly referred to as “El”, was born on March 30, 1939 to the late James Haskins, Sr. and the late Helen Minnis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Peggy Jones, Joyce Ware, and Janie Brown; and one brother James Haskins, Jr.
El was a strong, quiet, unassuming woman. Her family meant the world to her, and she dedicated her life to raising them. She prayed to live long enough to witness her children grow up and be able to take care of themselves. We are so thankful and blessed God’s mercy, grace, and favor gave her so much more. She adored her grandkids and they adored her. We will cherish our memories of this beautiful soul we were blessed to call our Mother and Grandmother.
El leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Tyrone Brown, Ronald Brown (Sabrina), and Christopher Brown; four daughters, Lorrie Brown, Lisa Brown Dillard (Michael), Vanya Coles (Paul), and Karen Peerman; two sisters Barbara Harris and Norma Gilbert (Lewis); three brothers, Bobby Stratton, Sr. (Mary), Leon Haskins, and Houston Haskins (Yolanda); her most precious gifts, her eleven grandchildren: Colby, Sydney, Tyler, Mackenzie, Spencer, Olyvia, Ashton, Dylaney, Justin, Cody, and Mekhi; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the home of El’s daughter, Vanya Coles, 543 Dawnridge Dr. Lynchburg, VA 24502.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
