Eleanor White Rossler, 96, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Oakwood Manor Health & Rehab. She was born on May 24, 1918 in Dillwyn, VA. She is the daughter of the late Melvin H. Hackney and Mary Helen Davis Hackney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Lee White; second husband, John Joseph Rossler; a sister, Merkie Butler; and three brothers, James M. Hackney, Bernard Hackney and Leonard Davis.
Eleanor was a beautician for many years. She also worked for the Bedford Silk Mill and for many years in a local nursing home. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was also a member of Bedford Christian Church.
Eleanor is survived by four sisters, Dealie B. Womack, Hazel Arthur and husband, William, Della B. Frazier, and Ann Link; also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
A funeral service and celebration of Eleanor’s life will be conducted at 2 PM, Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Donnie G. Glass officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior also in the chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Tharp Funeral Home Bedford is assisting the family.
