Elisabeth Catherine Thompson, 82, of Bedford, died Thursday, January 27, 2022 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Born November 25, 1939, in Sarrebourg, France, a daughter of the late Marie-Cecile and Georges Frederic Hoch. In addition to her parents, Elisabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Philip P. Thompson, and her brothers, Camille Hoch and Leon Hoch.
Elisabeth was a communicant of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. She retired from Potomac Hospital as a hospital worker with over 25 years of service and was a member of the Bedford International Alliance. She enjoyed gardening, playing tennis, doing jigsaw puzzles, travelling, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, and spending time with her family.
Elisabeth is survived by a daughter, Sonia C. Blahna and husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Roy Blahna of Westfield, IN; a son, Philip G. Thompson and wife, Nancy of Bedford; two sisters, Jeannette Schlott and Marie Cecile Biry of Sarrebourg, France; five grandchildren, Elisabeth C. Yousef and husband, Safa, Stephanie M. Williamson and husband, Troy, Matthew C. Thompson, Michael J. Thompson and Katherine P. Thompson; and four great-grandchildren, Isabella Moreno, Anthony Yousef, Christopher Yousef, and Adrianna Yousef.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bedford International Alliance, P.O. Box 951, Bedford, VA 24523, or Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 1307 Oakwood Street, Bedford, VA 24523.
A memorial service will conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, March 28, 2022 at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church with Father Nixon Negparanon officiating. Inurnment will follow the service.
