Elizabeth Andrews

On July 2, 2024, Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Andrews of 921 Floyd St. Apt 4, Lynchburg, Virginia, affectionately known as “Janie Boo”, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father. 

 She was born on June 14, 1935, in Agricola, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Archie Dawson Sr. and Bessie Burks.

 Elizabeth was educated through the schools of Amherst County. She attended the First Timothy Baptist Church in Madison Heights, Virginia, Rte. 130. Elizabeth met Adam Andrews, Sr. (Black Puerto Rican) and married him for 41 fruitful years on October 8, 1960. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Head Start in Lynchburg, Virginia, and as a Housekeeper at Holiday Inn in Lynchburg, Virginia for several years. Jane devoted her life to her 10 children whom she loved dearly. She made a home where love flourished daily. She was the homemaker and provided everything needed for them without lack. For that, we say to you “Mommy Dearest, your love will never go unnoticed.”

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Andrews, Sr. (Black Puerto Rican); her mother, Bessie Burks; her father, Archie Dawson, Sr.; (3) sisters, Harletha Burks, Bessie Mae Carter (Frank), Alice Yates (Morris)Williams (Charles); (6) brothers, Alan (Mildred), Mack, Irvin (JeanAnn), Roy (Rulerce), James and John Dawson; (1) grandchild, Mario Pannell; and (1) great grandchild, Le’Kira Watson.

 Left to cherish her memories are her 10 children, Barbara Dawson (Tudy), Patricia Andrews (Weewee), Adam Andrews, Jr. (Juneybug), Arnetha Saunders (Bootee), Antonio Andrews (Tony), Andre Andrews (Van), Alan Andrews (Petey&Marie) Aretha Andrews, Anita Andrews-Wilson (TweetyByrd & Rodney), and Alice Andrews, all of Lynchburg, Va. In addition, she leaves to cherish, (1) sister, Juanita Wilson (Willie, preceded) and (1) brother, Archie Dawson, Jr. (Joanne), all of Columbus, Ohio. (4) sisters-in-law, Evelyn Andrews of Philadelphia, PA., Pearl Dawson of Huntington, WV., Frankie Andrews of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Rosa Dawson of Lithonia, Ga.; (1) brother-in-law, Joseph Hubbard, Sr. of Washington D.C.; 27 grandkids; 63 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

 A special thank you to Nurse Becky, of Hospice, for the generosity and care you gave to our mother during this time.

TODAY WE HONOR THE LIFE OF A STRONG WOMAN WHO SHOWED HER LOVE BY BEING A DEVOTED WIFE, MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, SISTER, AUNT, COUSIN, AND FRIEND. LET HER LOVE REFLECT IN OUR LIFESTYLE.

 A Celebration of Life will be held at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 3 P.M.
