Elizabeth Ann Jordan Wilkerson, 87, of Lynchburg died Friday, May 31, 2019 at Westminster Canterbury, after a long illness.
Born in Lynchburg, February 27, 1932, to the late Alfred & Inez Jordan. Elizabeth was predeceased by husband of 63 years Tommy C Wilkerson, and a son Daniel D Wilkerson.
Elizabeth is survived by her son T. Scott Wilkerson (Cindy), brother Bev Jordan (Nancy), granddaughter Carrie Beth Wilkerson, niece Julia Lohman, nephews, Scott and Jonathan Jordan, a loving cousin, June Bacon, and longtime friend and neighbor, Joyce Crawley.
Elizabeth graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1949 and University of Virginia School of Nursing in 1952. She retired from Women’s Health of Central Virginia (WHCV), and was a longtime member of Timberlake United Methodist Church.
Always the care giver for family and friends; she was sought after by many for a second opinion on medical or health issues.
Elizabeth loved to read and could often be found curled up in bed with a cat or two reading a book. Possessing a great vocabulary and language skills, she despised numbers. She was a strong willed and stern woman, often with a sharp tongue.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 5, 2019 from 6:30 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019 in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Senior Independence Hospice and Westminster Canterbury for the outstanding and compassionate care given to Elizabeth.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation in her name to a charity of your choice. Elizabeth loved cats and was a supporter of the American Cancer Society and charities supporting mental health.
