Elizabeth Atkins Collins

Elizabeth Ann Atkins Collins, 62, of Goode, passed away on Sunday December 2, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born on December 28, 1949 in Pittsylvania Co, Virginia. A daughter of the late Andrew J. Atkins and Virginia McDowell Atkins. In addition to her parents Elizabeth was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew \"Jimmy\" Atkins; son-in-law, Rodney Weeks Sr.; brother-in-law, Scott B. Ray.

Elizabeth was a member of Living Word Baptist Church. She enjoyed clipping coupons and shopping. She also enjoyed reading, taking trips to Tennessee and spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband, Fred M. Collins; her son, Vince Abernathy and his wife, Sarah; four step-children, Lisa and Richard Arthur, Wayne and Jennifer Collins, Linda and Beryle Phelps, and Josh and Jennifer Collins. Grandchildren, Andrew, Austin, Ryan, Tristan, Mya Abernathy, Rodney Weeks, Jr. and wife, Diana, Michael and Matthew Arthur and Samuel Collins; two sisters, Emily A. Ray and Susan A. Thomas and husband, Garland; special friend, Sandra Collins; also her nieces and nephews, Nancy, Lisa, Sharron, David and Steve.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Goode Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 178, Goode, VA 24556. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Virginia Memorial Park with Pastor Marvin Suitt officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, (540)-586-3443.
