Elizabeth “Betty” Edna Straehle Stahl, 86, of Monroe, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019.
A little more than 66 years ago Betty and Ed married and raised eight children in Wilmington, DE. Over the years, she enjoyed camping vacations and traveling around the country with her family. She was a skilled and admired baker who was much loved for her homemade breads, pies, and tea rings, always baking enough for her children to share with their teachers during the holidays. She was a master of the art of using coupons, often saving more than her grocery order totaled. Betty was a warm, loving woman who made everyone feel welcomed in her home and accepted each of her sons-in-law and her daughter-in-law into the family with great affection. Over the years Betty shared her home with innumerable cats, dogs, and other pets. Most recently she enjoyed spending time on her porch with Ed, reading, solving puzzles, and enjoying the peace and beauty of their Blue Ridge home.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edward J. Stahl, Sr.; and by her children, Liz Vallejos, Susan Jones (Chuck), Kathy Kline (Frank), Janice DeMichiel (Mark), Edward, Jr. (Laurel Haring), Andrea Baxter, Nancy Wilson (Jeff), and Lori Eaton (Chris), and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sister, Doris Krescanko. Betty was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Lloyd Vallejos and George Baxter.
A private service will be held for Betty, as was her wish. In her honor, share the love that you want to see in the world.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to a charity that benefits children or animals.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Madison Heights, is assisting the family.
