Elizabeth Gray Holland

Elizabeth \"Betty\" Gray Holland, 90, of Bedford, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Lynchburg Health & Rehab. She was born August 31, 1921 in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late Elizabeth Goodwin Slough Gray and Charles Leon Gray.

Betty was a member of Bedford Christian Church. She was also a member of the Lynchburg Elk\"™s Club #321 and the Bedford Ruritan Club. Betty retired from Leggett of Bedford after many years of service.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Edward Holland; a son, Charles Raymond Holland; and a granddaughter, Katharine Elliot Holland. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Kaye Holland Johnson and husband, Randy; a daughter-in-law, Karen Chandler; four grandchildren, Mark Hamilton, Jackie Gorman and husband, Ash, Kevin Johnson and wife, Michelle, and Ryan Johnson and wife, Claire; and eight great-grandchildren, Cameron Hamilton, Ashleigh Hamilton, Brandon Hamilton, Lucas Gorman, Woodrow Gorman, Aaron Johnson, Isaac Johnson and Whitney Vincent.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bedford Christian Church, 1928 Moneta Road, Bedford, VA 24523 or American Cancer Society, 2050 Langhorne Road, Suite 201, Lynchburg, VA 24501.

A celebration of Betty\"™s life will be conducted at 11 AM, Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Rev. William H. Moore and Rev. James E. Compton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:30 PM, Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 586-3443.
