Elizabeth G. Inge, 87, of Lynchburg, Va., went to be with to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 30, 2017. She was the wife of the late William Linwood Inge, Sr.
Liz was born Saturday, January 4, 1930, in Chase City, Va., a daughter of the late David Harim Gregory and Janie S. Gregory.
She is survived by her children William Linwood “Lindy” Inge, Jr. of Elon, Va., and Anne Inge Coleman and her husband, Joe, of Forest, Va.; two grandchildren: William Joseph “BJ” Coleman and Clifton Matthew “Matt” Coleman, both of Forest, Va.; three great-grandchildren: Joseph R. “Joey” Coleman, Caleb A. “Caleb” Coleman, and Jacob L. “Jake” Coleman.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her grandson Brandon D. “Brandino” Coleman and her sister Dorothy G. Crowder.
She is also survived by her sister Shirlee G. Seligman of Richmond, Va.; a brother David Harold “Bubby” Gregory and his wife, Peggy, of Chase City, Va.; and a brother-in-law Harold A. Crowder of Colonial Heights, Va.
Liz was a member of College Hill Baptist Church and a past Deaconess. She was also a member of Lynchburg Woman’s Club, Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority, Christian Woman’s Club, and active member of the Poplar Forest DAR (Daughters of The American Revolution). She loved to co-host Bible study in her home every Friday night.
After graduating from Chase City High School in 1947 and finishing beauty school, she married William and was married for 59 years and never lost a debate.
Liz was a gourmet chef who enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her sorority sisters, reading and studying history.
Liz was a devoted, fun loving mother who always gave her time and her heart to her family. “Granma Injun” especially had good fun times with Matt and BJ.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Va. from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Thomas Road Baptist Church Pate Chapel. Interment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery.
