Elizabeth \"Betty\" Hamilton Johnson, 83, of Lynchburg died April 8, 2013. She was the wife, for 62 years, of Charles Johnson, Sr.
Born in Wakefield, NH, on December 16, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Harry Hamilton and Mary Hamilton Laughlin.
She is survived by her children, Charles Johnson, Jr., (Joanne) of Lynchburg, Karen Lawson of Lynchburg, Dawna Lewis (Randy) of Omaha, NE, Paula Kohrt (Dan) of Omaha, NE, and Aaron Johnson (Cathy) of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Courtney Harrington (Dave) of Rensselaer, NY, Jeremiah Johnson (Kate) of Lynchburg, Jessica Lewis and Jaimie Lewis, both of Omaha, NE, Micah Kohrt and Mariah Kohrt, both of Omaha, NE, and Bryce Johnson and Bailey Johnson, both of Charleston, WV; 6 great-grandchildren, 5 siblings, and their families.
Betty graduated as a registered nurse from Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, MA. She was employed by Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston MA; Frisbee Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NH; Lynchburg General Hospital, Virginia Baptist Hospital, and Camelot Nursing Home, Lynchburg.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 25, at Shiloh United Methodist Church with the Reverend Charles Johnson, Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center, 1701 Thomson Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
