Elizabeth “Libby” Tuck Hammersley

Elizabeth "Libby" Tuck Hammersley passed peacefully away on May 25, 2010.  She was born May 13, 1926 to the late Willie and Lewis Bailey Tuck.  Libby was predeceased by her late husband, J. Kenneth Hammersley Sr., with whom she developed and operated Kenneth Hammersley Motors in Lynchburg for more than 30 years.  After his death, she continued to operate the dealership with her son, J Kenneth Hammersley, Jr. before selling it to pursue other interests.  She then enjoyed working as a real estate agent with Century 21, traveling and developing a number of rental properties.  She was a former member of Boonsboro and Oakwood Country Clubs. Libby was always into something and always having fun!

She is survived by her children: Janice Hammersley Wilmer and husband, Grant, of Atlanta, GA and J. Kenneth Hammersley Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Lynchburg.  She thoroughly enjoyed and loved her grandchildren, Annie, Elizabeth and Amanda Grant Wilmer, Nicole Hammersley Farish and husband, Shawn, and Brittany Hammersley, and her great granddaughter, Joy IsaBella Farish.  Their memories of Nannie will always bring smiles.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30pm on Thursday, May 27 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.

A graveside service celebrating the life of Libby Hammersley will be conducted at 11am on Friday, May 28 at Fort Hill Memorial Park, with Dr. Jonathan Falwell officiating.
