Elizabeth Phelps

Elizabeth Phelps, 95, of Bedford, VA, died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Carriage Hill Retirement Community, Bedford. Elizabeth was born on Sunday, July 1, 1915 in Mouth of Wilson, VA., she was a daughter of the late Edna Patton McMillian and Owen Greek McMillian.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Clyde Phelps, a son, David Owen Phelps, two sisters, Lucille and Delores, and a brother, Franklin.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, Thomas Phelps and his wife, Donna, of Huddleston, a daughter in-law, Brenda Phelps, of Roanoke, five grandchildren, Richard Phelps and his wife, Patty, of Chesterfield, VA, Dave Phelps and his wife, Tiffany, of Fredericksburg, VA, Jimmy Berry, of Concord, Michael Berry and his wife, Lucia, of Muscat, Oman, and Angela Salmon and her husband, Bryan, of Blue Ridge, seven great grandchildren, a special niece, Patty Fike, of Alexandria, VA, and a sister in-law, Margaret Nichols, Vero Beach, FL.

Elizabeth was a caring person who enjoyed helping others. She loved playing cards, knitting and crocheting. She was an active member of the Agency on Aging, which gave her an opportunity to keep active and enjoy life.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 02, 2010 at Virginia Memorial Park with Rev. James E. Compton officiating.
