Elizabeth Ida Haverstock Rice

Elizabeth Ida Haverstock Rice, 97, of Martinsville, Virginia died on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. She was born on March 14, 1927, in West Chester, Pennsylvania to Oliver and Pearl Grubb Haverstock. She spent most of her early years in the Richmond, Viginia area where she met and married McClinton Davenport Rice of Northumberland County, Virginia, on May 20, 1948. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years on August 20, 2005. Surviving are her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Bowling, her brother-in-law, Wayne E. Rice, both of Roanoke, Virginia and her niece, Sarah E. Rice of Asheville, North Carolina. 

 The family would like to thank the Mulberry Creek Nursing and Rehab Center for their excellent care and help. 

 Special thanks go to Joy and Ernie Beggarly, Roger Curtis, Ricky Sharpe, and Barbara Harvey for the kindness shown to Elizabeth over the past years. 

 A funeral service will be conducted at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 107 Governor’s Lane, Martinsville, Virginia at a future date. 

 Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford is assisting the family.
