Elizabeth Whitten Roberts, 95, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Bedford County Nursing Home. She was born on March 17, 1922 in Montvale, VA. She was a daughter of the late Samuel E. Whitten and Annie Garrett Whitten. Liz was quite patriotic and proud to have worked at the Radford Arsenal and the U. S. Post Office in Montvale during WWII. She was retired from Rubatex Corporation in Bedford and was a devoted member of the Bedford Baptist Church. Liz enjoyed her family, was an avid cook, a life-long Democrat, and a member of the Bedford County Electoral Board. She loved crocheting, politics and anything that interested her sons.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hubert Arthur Roberts; two brothers, Samuel Virgil Whitten and Edward James Whitten.
Elizabeth is survived by her three sons, Chester Arthur Roberts of Richmond, VA, Robin Vincent Roberts of Safety Harbor, FL and Curry Alan Roberts of Richmond, VA; one sister, Ernestine Whitten Smith of Roanoke, VA, three daughters in law, Margaret Roberts, Sherry Roberts and Irene Roberts, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

A funeral service and celebration of her life will be conducted at 11:00 on, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford with Rev. Dr. David L. Henderson officiating. Burial will follow services in Virginia Memorial Park in Forest. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home.
