Ella Branham Mays, 74 of Forest, VA., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2012, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late William Mays.
Mrs. Mays was born June 27, 1937 in Amherst County a daughter of the late James B. Branham and the late Carsia Branham.
Ella retired from the Central Virginia Training Center where she had worked for more than twenty-three years.
She is survived by her family, sons, William Mays and wife Teresa of Rustburg, Curtis D. Mays of Nelson County and W. F. "Monk" Mays and wife Tracy of Nelson County: her daughters, Lori B. Beverage and husband Ralph of Lynchburg,, Carsia Gail Branham of Thaxton, Retta Marie Mays of Lynchburg, Frances Mays Slaughter and husband Bobby of Lynchburg and Shelia Joy Mays, of Bedford and her fiancé Johnny Holdren, an adopted son Johnny Lester of Forest, a sister Louise Branham and husband Curtis of Amherst, three brothers, Gene Branham and wife Betty of Amherst, Johnny Branham and wife Lucille of Port Republic, MD and James Branham and fiancée Dawn of Baltimore, MD, 27 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son James "Jamie" Mays and a daughter, Anna Branham, two brothers, Joe and Al Branham and two sisters, Helen and Claudine Branham.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 7:00 pm. to 8:30 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11:30 am. in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with the Dr. Sidney Wade officiating.
Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
