Ella Corrine McFadden Slater, 84, of Roanoke, VA passed away Thursday evening, August 31, 2017, at the Lewis Gale Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Born December 17, 1932 in Gladstone, VA, she was a daughter of the late James and Gladys McFadden.
She was the loving wife of Billy Earl Slater and he preceded her in death in 2005, after 54 years of marriage. Surviving are five children, Billie Jean DeWoody and husband Gene; Teresa Ann Wheeley and husband Ronnie; Cynthia Aileen Conyers and fiance Chris Hedrick; Kenneth Earl Slater and wife Rita; Michael Edward Slater and wife Ava; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; her brother, Emmett McFadden and her extended family, the McCurtains. She will be dearly missed by others too numerous to mention who shared many laughs and good times throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her sister; Gracie McFadden Jessup.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the McFadden Family Cemetery in Gladstone with Pastor Carroll Martin officiating.
