Ellen Ann Mattox

Ellen Ann Mattox (nee Blackwell), affectionately known as \"Granny,\" was born on August 4th, 1921 and was raised in Lynchburg, VA. She passed away in Alexandria, VA on February 23, 2013 at the age of 91. She was the youngest of five children born to Allen Owen Blackwell and Mary Elizabeth (nee Martin). She married her late husband of 44 years, Clifton Warren Mattox Sr., a Lynchburg resident, on her 20th birthday, August 4, 1941.

 She loved being a Southern Railroad wife and stayed in contact with many railroad families over the years. In 1953, she and her husband relocated to Alexandria, VA. Together they raised their two sons, Clifton Warren Jr. (Warren) and Richard Allen, both of Alexandria, VA, who survived her. Other survivors include her granddaughter, Michelle, who was the \"love of her life,\" her great grandson, Anderson, who always loved to see her and made her laugh, her daughter-in-law Martha (Marty) Mattox, and grandson-in-law Rob Wexler.  She loved her family, cooking, baking, crafting, Bing Crosby\"™s \"White Christmas,\" Santa Claus, and ice cream. No one ever left her house hungry, not even the beloved family dog, Mason, to whom she loved feeding cheese.  She was a New York Yankees fan and was a friend to anyone she met.

Graveside service will be held at Noon , Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Presbyterian Cemetery, Grace Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504. All are welcome to join the family in paying their final respects.
