Ellen Cash Kennedy went home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2019 while in hospice care. Ellen was born and raised on the other side of the river in “Hog Town” Virginia, also known as Madison Heights.
She was the daughter of the late Wilton W & Grace B Cash. She had one half- brother and three half- sisters. Ellen is survived by daughter Pamela Knight with companion Lenny Lohr, daughter Robin Maddox, and daughter-in-law Regina Knight. She is preceded in death by son Phillip Knight and lifelong friend Kenneth Creasy. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Ellen is survived by many loving family and friends.
Ellen loved the Lord & Israel, and loved serving others by doing bake sales, yard sales, visiting people in need, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, and also financially supporting multiple organizations monthly. God blessed her family to be a part of the Agape Center of Lynchburg where she was able to witness four generations together serving the Lord, and it pleased her. Ellen attended Evington United Methodist Church and discovered the United Methodist Women. She was a dedicated member of the UMW, they became her second family and a sisterhood bond grew between them. One member in particular, Helen Dudley, and her had a friendship so close they called each other at exactly eight o’clock every night to pray with each other.
She never knew a stranger & always said “Thank you”. She was a talented florist where she used her skills at Liberty University and retired at 67 with 24 years of service. She could create beauty out of anything! She had such a great love for animals. So much so she would keep treats in her car just in case there were an animal that needed some love. She unfortunately had to lay to rest her “Poo” kitty on December 31, 2018 after 24 years together.
Ellen will be deeply missed by all. We are all certain she is now rejoicing with the Lord.
