Ellen Lynn Smith

Ellen Lynn Overstreet Smith, 70 of Bedford, passed away on December 31, 2024, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on December 07, 1954, in Bedford, VA. A daughter of the late Owen L. Overstreet and Ollie Evans Overstreet. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Overstreet and Judy Overstreet Goad.

Ellen was very simple and loving woman. She enjoyed her time spent with her family and friends, especially her great grandkids. In years past she enjoyed crafts, painting ceramics and gardening or anything to do with flowers. Her love was so true, and she will be missed by her family and friends in the days ahead.

Ellen is survived by her loving son, Darryl Heck (Dreama); granddaughter, Jessica Fark (Austin); great-grandchildren, Layla, Caroline and Beckham Fark; sister, Darlene Witt (William); brothers, Owen Overstreet and Larry Overstreet (Bonnie). Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A Funeral Service and celebration of Ellen’s life will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel in Bedford, with Pastor Earl Ragland officiating. Burial will follow at Peaks Church and Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory Bedford.
